Meeting Joris Luyendijk

7/9/2016

Joris Luyendijk on the fear of staff in the Banking sector: You just don't talk about the Fightclub!
Last week, Joris Luyendijk gave an interesting bookpresentation about his bestseller 'Swimming with Sharks' at the Stockholm Business School. Joris, an antropologist / journalist, described his travel through the financial world in a way no one has done before. His professional background as well as being Dutch made him an 'outsider enough' for insiders to share their real thoughts and experiences. This is pretty unique as the whole financial systems is run by deep fear and you have been made clear to spilling information will ruin your career, even after you have left the bank. You just 'don't talk about fightclub!'
Picture
Overall, the problem does not seem to concern individuals but seems is rather the system itself. With the top of the banking industry still not being personally liable and for example with loyalty and morality working against you, we can only expect more scandals to come.

The lively discussion after his presentation made it clear how complex the situation is, with a powerful sector that influences our society more than we think. If you are interested in knowing more, please keep an eye out on the event in Göteborg at the Bokmässan on the 23rd of September, and of course you can buy the book of Joris at the bookshop.

End 2 End Customer Journey at Fotografiska

Global Location Based Marketing Trends

On May 27th the Dutch Chamber hosted a special Orange Tables event together with Mike Peters from the Location Based Marketing Association (LBMA). Around 50 people joined us at the embassy, including a group of Dutch entrepreneurs visiting Stockholm!
Picture
We were updated about the latest trends in Location Marketing by LBMA’s Asif Khan, who took us on an insightful journey through the internet of things and how companies connect with their targeted customer groups using i-Beacons. Continuing on this theme, John Dekker explained how his company GEOconnect is enhancing the overall customer experience at one of Stockholm's most highly rated museums, Fotografiska.

The event was concluded with lively drinks, providing a great opportunity for everyone to meet new people and extend their network. The next Orange Table with network possibilities will be after the summer break. Please keep an eye out on our website!

First Round Table Malmö

5/4/2016

Move by Bike : From Start-up to Success

Picture
Our very first Round Tables in Malmö; an evening led by interesting speakers and even more interesting questions from our members. The co-founders of Move by Bike, Johan and Nils Wedin, made an interesting presentation on some of the challenges that they have faced and overcome as a growing business.
Picture
Johan and Nils started up Move Bike in 2012 and have a team of six today. The company originally started with a focus on moving households via bike, but soon expanded into transportation and logistics. In an open environment we discussed the importance of marketing strategy, clear set goals and the importance of having fun when starting up such a business.

Picture
Besides the interactive presentation with focus on the business side we also took time to look into the technical side of the bikes. Being no strangers to biking, our participants even challenged our speakers with technical questions about the effects of windy Malmö on these electrically powered bikes.  It was also interesting to learn that Move Bike actually designs their own bikes, as regular bikes are not able to hold the load.

We look back to an interesting evening with knowledge-sharing, networking and laughter over a cup of soup and drinks.  We look forward to welcoming you all to our next event, to be communicated about later.

Picture
“Friday evening 17:00, some tension up in the ‘prov’-room  of the Spritmuseum. Is everything in place? It’s the last run through the evening with the kitchen and the board. After this moment it is all about letting go and enjoying the evening.”
