28/9/2017

What can Sweden learn from the Netherlands and Switzerland in terms of healthcare? And vice versa? That was one of the questions that was answered at the healthcare workshop which was held at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Stockholm on the 26th of September.

The workshop was organised by Forum for health policy in cooperation with the Dutch and Swiss Embassies and the Dutch- and Swiss Chambers of Commerce. In International comparison, these three countries are some of the best in the world in terms of efficiency and resource utilization in healthcare. But where are they different?

From both Switzerland and the Netherlands experts in their field came to Stockholm to inform the attendees about the Swiss- and Dutch healthcare systems and to discuss current challenges in comparison to each other.
After the presentations, a panel discussion was being held in which certain topics in the field of healthcare were discussed.

On 27th of September we had an inspiring seminar with the topic 'Disruptive trends that are reshaping our society'. This event was organised by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in corporation with the Dutch, French and Swedish Gay and Lesbian Chamber. With the Grant Thornton office as our location, this vibrant event was  made possible due to the inspiring speakers and proactive attitude of the attendees.

Topics such as cyber security and changes in data storage and acquisition were the main themes of the discussion after the presentations. Mats Lindgren Founder and CEO of Kairos Future and Erik Ekudden CTO of Ericsson gave their personal opinions, respective perspectives and global outlooks on these topics.

The photos below give an impression of this well visited event.

Go. Harbour event in Gothenburg

25/9/2017

On 21 September 2017, the Dutch Chamber participated in the Go. Harbour event. The purpose of this event was to allow the Gothenburg Harbour Authorities to meet eight possible Dutch suppliers for the Gothenburg harbour project, in one afternoon.

The Go. Harbour event was a new initiative designed by Sari van Poelje, regional director of the Dutch Chamber in Gothenburg, and executed by the Dutch Trade representative, Daniel Malmgren, and the Dutch Embassy.

It came about through a casual conversation with the Dutch consul, Hakan Friberg about ways to promote Dutch business in the Gothenburg region.  Hakan suggested creating a harbour event, given the extensive renovation of the harbour which will take place from 2018-2024.
Jan Andersson,  Vice President Infrastructure, Gothenburg Port Authority, immediately saw the potential in organizing a pitching event: “We are always looking for new innovative companies to partner with us in the harbour project. The Go. Harbour event is a highly efficient way of seeing many different companies in one afternoon”.

The Dutch Ambassador and the Dutch Chamber kicked off the event in the afternoon. Then Jan Andersson presented the plans for the harbour renovation and extension. They include building a new roll on-roll off terminal, new distribution areas, reinforcement of the quays and dredging to new depths to allow larger ships to dock.

One by one the eight Dutch companies each got 15 minutes to present themselves and their possible contribution to the harbour project. Ballast Nedam, BAM international, Besix, Royal Smals, Mobilis, van den Herik and van Oord then answered questions from the Gothenborg Harbour authority about their offer.

In the evening everyone was invited for a tour of the harbour by boat, with drinks and dinner. Jan Andersson wrote a personal email to thank the Dutch Chamber for their efforts.

International Chamber's Regatta was great succes

7/9/2017

Water, sun, and delicious food. These were the ingredients for the International Chambers’ Regatta 2017. Also this year the sailing event organised by the Dutch Chamber was a great success. For the company teams the day started with a healthy sailors-breakfast, followed by a workshop on the “Value tree” given by Åsa Jarskog from the Swedish Southern African Chamber of Commerce. Together with the Swiss Chamber one of the co-organising Chambers.

Around 11:00 hours the company teams were joined by some individual sailing enthusiasts and soon after it was time to sail and enjoy the beautiful archipelago. The day gave good possibilities for both networking and was spiced with other team-building activities. The After Sail and sauna allowed  everyone to relax in their own preferred way before the Captains & Sailors dinner was served.

So another memorable Regatta thanks to a great cooperation between mentioned chambers and Mats from Nordic Yachts for the boats, Magnus from Bullandö Krog for all the food, Chris from Bojo Studios for the photos, Luuk and Remco the interns of the Dutch Chamber for their assistance and Heineken for the beer.

Thank you all.
We can’t wait until next year.

Networking was the theme of this traditional Back2Work mingle on Thursday 31st of August. This time together with the SweCham from the Netherlands, which gave our members the unique opportunity to expand their international network.

With an amazing view from the Tak roof terrace and the second half of the year to look forward to, there was a lot to talk about.  It was a great start of the season.
