Kingsday

27/4/2016

Congratulations to all Dutch and especially King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima

Picture

Today is the birthday of King Willem-Alexander. An important day of celebration for all Dutch and Dutch minded people. Congratulations to you all and of course especially Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander!

Did you know that this yearly royal celebration started on August 31 1885 as Princess day, for the fifth birthday of Princess Wilhelmina? This became Queen's Day in 1890 after she became Queen following the death of her father.

When Princess Juliana became our Queen (1948), the celebration of Queen's Day was moved to her birthday on April 30th. We did however not change to the actual birthday of Princess Beatrix when she became our Queen in 1980. Officially to honor Juliana. After the inauguration of Willem-Alexander in 2013, Kingsday did change to his actual birthday.

A quick introduction :

I have met my Swedish wife in Amsterdam and 10 years ago we moved to Sweden and started a family.

After many international jobs I decided it might be a good idea to learn the language and I started working for Swedish companies. Last year I started my own company based around Location based marketing (with the use of iBeacons and Geofencing) Currently I am very busy with implementing such a solution at Fotografiska in Stockholm.

Thanks to the Orange tables I have already met many people who helped me with their experience and input and I am looking forward to continue this great interaction with fellow ’Nederlanders’!

Get Happified with Carl-Johan Look

It’s only since 2013 that Carl-Johan Look and Fredrik Nilarp started up ‘Happify’, an advertising & communication agency with 13 employees, located in the heart of Stockholm. Clients are Accor Hotels, Volvo and Swecon, just to name a few. And let’s not forget Transavia and KLM as KLM is also how Calle (Carl-Johan) came into contact with the Dutch Chamber.

Invitation to Charity Dinner

12/4/2016

Picture

Welcome to the first Charity Dinner of War Child in Sweden!

Picture

On behalf of War Child we are pleased to invite you to the first War Child Charity Dinner in Sweden on Monday the 9th of May. This charity dinner is first of all organized to raise awareness for War Child, however as the volunteer event managers also state, this event will also raise money for War Child.

More funds for War Child means that more children who are affected by armed conflict can be protected and supported. War Child empowers them to claim their rights, develop to their full potential and contribute to a peaceful future for themselves and their communities. More information can be found here: www.warchild.se

Bring your own company!

Talking to the volunteer event managers, Annelies Bommelje, Marjorie Claushuis and Ingrid Koning, we also believe that this evening will be marvelous with a mix of enjoying of high end food, music entertainment and a fundraising activity. All in good company and atmosphere.

You are welcome to take along your friends, family or colleagues in order to grow the awareness of War Child in Sweden. You only have to make sure to reserve your seat(s) at Clustret, in the heart of Gamla Stan, via the following link:

First Round Table Malmö

Move by Bike : From Start-up to Success

Picture
Our very first Round Tables in Malmö; an evening led by interesting speakers and even more interesting questions from our members. The co-founders of Move by Bike, Johan and Nils Wedin, made an interesting presentation on some of the challenges that they have faced and overcome as a growing business.
Picture
Johan and Nils started up Move Bike in 2012 and have a team of six today. The company originally started with a focus on moving households via bike, but soon expanded into transportation and logistics. In an open environment we discussed the importance of marketing strategy, clear set goals and the importance of having fun when starting up such a business.

Picture
Besides the interactive presentation with focus on the business side we also took time to look into the technical side of the bikes. Being no strangers to biking, our participants even challenged our speakers with technical questions about the effects of windy Malmö on these electrically powered bikes.  It was also interesting to learn that Move Bike actually designs their own bikes, as regular bikes are not able to hold the load.

We look back to an interesting evening with knowledge-sharing, networking and laughter over a cup of soup and drinks.  We look forward to welcoming you all to our next event, to be communicated about later.
