Useful insights after workshop with Tony Grahn

18/5/2018

On 25/4, two days before the birthday of King Willem Alexander, DC South invited our guests and members to a workshop with Tony Grahn in the Tower Room at Casino Cosmopol (Malmö). Tony is a professional coach, and teaches his clients how to handle stress and become and perform as good as they possibly can in their profession or just in life. He has coached everyone from golf profs, to celebrity actors and high executives.
No matter what you need to perform, Tony explained that the key is to be relaxed and listen to yourself.
It became a quite intimate workshop, where Tony told us about how the nervsystem and brain works, and how it is wired since ancient times and how this affects how we react in certain situations.
These reactions are often not the ideal move to deal with stress. Neither is how our society interprets the behaviours from our ancestors, that still kick in when we feel threatened for example.

We got to practice how to relax, and be comfortable in ourselves, and how this affects an audience or other people around us. For some of us the evening was a real eye opener. We hadn’t realised for instance how our body language is perceived, it's actually quite the contrary from expected.

We are really grateful that we got the opportunity to participate in one of Tony’s appreciated workshops, and we dare to say, that we all left with some new useful insights.

24 /4: Preparing global leaders in a modern world

16/5/2018

Members of the Dutch Chamber were invited to join an event hosted by the French Chamber (CCFS) together with Grant Thornton about Global leaders in a modern world.

Reinforcing global competence is vital for individuals to thrive in a rapidly changing world and cultural awareness is a pivotal aspect for all international businesses. Business leaders of today need the ability to examine and understand international perspectives and world views.

A diverse and international panel touched upon this topic from different angles but with one common conclusion: Internationalisation is happing and now is the time as a company and individual to see, understand and make use of the advantage of being an internationally diverse employer/e.

The panel consisted of the following persons: Meg Tiveus, Karen Henriksson, Yves Chantereau, Karin Björkman, Linda Karlsson and Margareta Neld. You can read more about the panel members here.

Celebration of Dutch Kingsday in Gothenburg

4/5/2018

On Friday April 27th, Gothenburg  welcomed 120 Dutch hikers for a Friendship Walk through the city.
The hikers were very excited and dressed up in orange outfits. Our Dutch Ambassador in Sweden, Mrs Ines Coppoolse, gave them a warm welcome speech and after an orange cake the first group started the Friendship Walk from the Sjömanskyrkan. The trail led the hikers along various highlights of the city and through the beautiful parks. The groups were guided through the city by Dutch habitants of Gothenburg. After 15 kilometres of walking, their effort was rewarded with a medal and a drink offered by the Dutch Chamber. Together we toasted on Kings day and this special day in Gothenburg.
After the speech of Mrs Lena Malm, Mayor of Gothenburg, the group left for Ikea to have a typical Swedish buffet.
We had a wonderful day and an successfull event, where we were able to show Gothenburg in its best light!
