Various entrepreneurs will give them a warm welcome and offer local products. The hikers walk for about 10 kilometres through Gothenburg along nature, culture and art and through buildings.
The special relationship between Sweden and the Netherlands is also reflected in this sporting event; the Dutch ambassador in Sweden, Mrs Ines Coppoolse and Lord Mayor of Gothenburg, Mrs Lena Malm will welcome the walkers.
"As the Dutch ambassador in Sweden, I am particularly looking forward to welcoming a large group of fellow citizens in the beautiful city of Gothenburg on Friday 27 April 2018, our national holiday. A city which is perfect for a 'Friendship Walk' by Dutch walkers. After all, it was the Dutch who influenced the construction and design of the city; as a result the existence of our language officially acknowledgeded alongside Swedish for a long time. That is no longer the case, but I am convinced that the walkers - just like me - will be surprised by the hospitality and sense of recognition in Gothenburg. A bit like coming home, but then across the border. In a country in which the friendly relations have been felt for more than 400 years. I wish the group a lot of fun and look forward to our meeting on 27 April! "

The walkers walk in groups through the city together with a 'guide', member of the Dutch-Swedish Vereniging', the app of the NSW gives the walkers all information and descriptions of the sights along the route.
