We were welcomed by Marcus Scoliège, Head Foreign Direct Investment at Business Region Gothenburg. He then gave the floor to Lena Dalerup, who used to work in The Hague for 30 years and is now managing director of Innerstaden Göteborg. She talked passionately about how the city center is to be(come) Sweden’s most welcoming meeting and trading place and how it offers unique experiences to its visitors. She also gave us a teaser about the activities and events that are planned for the anniversary celebrations of 400 years Gothenburg starting in June this year.
Afterwards Pether Ribbefors, Göteborgs city guide and author of the book Staten och Staden, gave us all the best and funniest history class we ever experienced. He explained to us Gothenburgs' past and the influence of The Dutch on the development of the city. We certainly learned a lot, from the origins of Rambo to the existence of Gothenburg's own wall street.
Everyone got the chance to mingle with bubbles and real Dutch stroopwafels. Many thanks to Marcus, Lena and Pether for an inspiring evening!
